Meet Our Team
Kirk Springer
Kirk has gained extensive commercial construction experience since graduating from Texas A&M in 1986 with a degree in Construction Science. In 2004, he took what he learned and founded Cantera Design Builders. Since the company’s inception, Kirk has led his team to build over 5 million sq. ft. of tilt-wall construction projects for the automotive industry, large warehouses (including refrigeration), and office and medical buildings.
His ability to anticipate constructability issues during the design phase helps minimize surprise, change orders, and redesign. More recently, under Kirk’s leadership, Cantera Design Builders has added a tenant build-out division to complete its turnkey services in the construction process.
Kirk resides in Austin, TX, with his wife, Susan, and their three dogs. In his spare time, he is a high-performance driving instructor for Team Texas at Texas Motor Speedway. He also enjoys going to NASCAR races with his wife and friends.
Susan Springer
Susan joined Cantera Design Builders in 2017. She manages the tenant improvement division and executes a full suite of services, including cost estimating and budgeting, scheduling, permitting, and design and construction management.
Before joining the company, Susan spent 15 years as an integral part of the leadership team of one of the largest restoration contractors. She now uses her expertise to equip our clients with knowledge and clarity regarding the construction industry. Her cost-estimating skills and relationships with the subcontractor community help ensure clients receive fair and efficient pricing, maximizing the value of their construction dollar. In addition, her attention to detail gives clients the confidence to stay focused on their business throughout the process.
Susan resides in Austin, TX, with her husband, Kirk, and their three sweet fur babies. In her spare time, she loves to travel and explore the world. She also enjoys going to NASCAR races with her husband and friends.
